Dead Souls: a dark fairytale and simultaneously, a satyric mirror of humanity. The director, Sofia Karagianni, was inspired by the grotesque sense of humor and the timeless social critism of Gogol.
The lighting design is triggered by the frosted landscapes of Russia, as well as the obscure and cool blooded protagonist and the grotescue characters: the lighting colours have a bit of a twist: even then warm lights have a bit of green hue, because even the warm light is rotten in this world, and the human skin is pale...almost dead....
